How to Set a Holiday Budget?

This year, you need a holiday budget. But how much money should you plan to set aside for this holiday season? We recommend no more than 1.5% of your annual income.

According to PwC Canada’s holiday outlook report, Canadians will spend an average of CA$1,442 for the 2022 holiday season, up 2% from 2021.

The main reason people get into trouble and overspend is because they don’t have a holiday budget. We have taken the liberty of putting together a template for you so that you can avoid having a panic attack in January when your credit card bill arrives.

The holiday season is meant to be a time of joy not stress and anxiety. If you go into the holidays armed with a plan and a budget it will give you the confidence to say no when you need to and help eliminate the overspending that comes with impulse purchases.

Happy holidays!
