Money Matters, Where To Focus Video

Things that matter:

What are the things that matter most to you? Family and friends? Your career? Your health? In general, most people have similar core values with varying degrees of importance. Financial independence is often placed high up on that list. Money allows you to do what you want, and ultimately provides the foundation for you to live a healthy engaging life. Financial decisions matter and because of that they often cause significant stress for people.

Things you can control:

While financial decisions matter, staying up late worrying about the stock market or trying to pick the next hot stock really just isn’t worth it for the vast majority of people. There are so many factors that you can’t control and the effort rarely pays off. The reality is a dip in your investment account can be tough to see and without having a professional by your side, it is easy to be sabotaged by your own emotions. Focus on the things you can control, like planning your time horizon and saving consistently.

If you have significant investable assets, wealth planning becomes complicated. The outcome of your financial decisions become amplified as you start to incorporate philanthropy, legacy and estate planning. Hiring a personal CFO is within your control and is worth considering as there is likely added value that would be unattainable on your own.
